Mr Ian Gordon-Finlayson

Ian Gordon-Finlayson , WWT

On taking early retirement at 62 at the end of 2008 Ian was surprised and pleased to be asked to become the Treasurer of the WWT at the start of this year(2009),thus ensuring that he still did not have time to do all those tasks at home which he had planned to do in the first few months of retirement.

Ian has lived at Ogbourne Maizey, near Marlborough, for fifteen years with his wife, Marion, and their three children, all of whom have now moved off to various parts of the country. After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse many years ago,he worked with them in London and in Paris before returning to the UK to work with Citroen Cars followed by a long stint with a subsidiary of Elf Aquitaine, the French oil group. He then abandonned the French connection by joining Wadworth & Co.Ltd., the Devizes brewers, where he was Financial Director for seventeen happy years.

Ian has always had a preference for being in the countryside and is interested in all things to do with it, although he professes an ignorance of most of what goes on there; however, he is keen to learn and is sure that his time with the WWT will be interesting, informative and rewarding.
