Bumper year for lambs helps Trust in quest to restore chalk grasslands

A walk among the wild flowers at Coombe Bissett Down nature reserve, near Salisbury, will be rewarded with the added interest of seeing rare breed lambs gambolling on the slopes, for the Trust has had a bumper lambing season.

Persistent early morning rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of walkers and runners taking part in the Sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon on Sunday May 2nd between the two World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge.

Trust offers landowners help to wipe out alien invasive plants

The Trust is offering to help landowners eradicate Himalayan balsam, Japanese knotweed and giant hogweed from their properties - all non-native invasive plants that are infesting our waterways and causing real problems for our wildlife. And it is also seeking volunteers to help survey for these plants and to help pull up the balsam.
