Wildlife Watch

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts and is the UK’s leading club for young environmentalists interested in wildlife conservation. Wildlife Watch groups are where children can get stuck into nature, exploration and discovery, games and practical activities with other young people. They are a fun way to get really close to nature.

Watch enables children to explore the environment in an exciting and educational way, through hands on activities, arts and crafts, games and practical investigations.

Local Wildlife Watch Groups

Across Wiltshire there are local Wildlife Watch groups where a few of the exciting hands-on activities include bat walks, pond dipping, creating homes for wildlife and campaigning to protect our environment. Children have lots of fun by being nature detectives and making new friends whilst learning about our local wildlife.

Watch groups:

• are run by volunteers who organise and lead environmental activities for children
• are open to members and non members of Wiltshire Wildlife Watch
• meet on a regular basis – usually monthly
• meet in local schools, village halls, community centres and in local green spaces!
• have at least two registered leaders per group - for insurance purposes
• have a number of parent helpers who are invaluable in providing extra pairs of hands to ensure activities run smoothly.

Wiltshire Wildlife Watch groups are supported by the local Wildlife Watch Co-ordinator, Sarah Wood. Sarah helps the group leaders to plan meetings, create a varied programme of activities throughout the year and help with resources. Health and Safety procedures are in place to ensure that all meetings are run with attention to detail.

Adults at meetings

Each group is run by volunteers and will require any adults attending their meetings to follow a code of conduct.
