Wiltshire Rural Services has long been established in carrying out all the Trust’s reserve and countryside management services.
Building on our success in this field we have expanded our services to undertake external contract work. With a wide range of experience and expertise we deliver a professional and conscientious service to all our customers.
We cover all aspects of Countryside Management and offer a full project management service giving the client peace of mind with one constant point of contact.
The team is highly skilled and experienced in all elements of contractual work, with the additional expertise in Sites of Special Scientific Interest and conservation led projects.
We offer a wide range of habitat and land management services including:
Habitat Management:
Tree / Woodland Management:
- Felling and selective thinning operations.
- Coppice management.
- Rideside management.
- Tree planting and aftercare.
Ponds / Wetland Management:
- Pond Creation, Restoration and Maintenance – excavation and re-profiling of ponds.
- Wetland planting.
- Creation of wetland scrapes.
Grassland / Weed Management:
- Problem Species Control – mechanical cutting and herbicide application; weed wipe, knapsack sprayer.
- Scrub Management Control – scrub clearance and herbicide application; weed wiping, knapsack sprayer.
Hedges and Hedgerow Management:
- Hedge planting and aftercare of new hedgerow.
- Hedgerow restoration – hedge laying and flailing.
Ground Works:
- Ditching Operations – routine maintenance and creation of new ditches.
- Water Supplies – installation and maintenance of water supplies and water troughs.
Access Works:
- Vehicular Access – installation and maintenance of vehicular access roads, including vehicular access bridges.
- Pedestrian Access – installation and maintenance of pedestrian access gates, footbridges, steps, footpaths and bridleways, boardwalks and pond dipping platforms.
Estate Works:
- Stock Fencing – installation and maintenance of livestock and deer fencing (including temporary deer fencing).
- Field / Stock Gates – installation and maintenance of livestock gates.
Team Build Days on a Wildlife Trust Reserve:
- We offer a service of hosting Team Build Days on our reserves for your organisation or team.
- Work alongside us and learn about how we enhance and create habitat for both wildlife and humans!
- See a tangible difference to the reserve from your day’s work and feel a real sense of achievement.
- Increase communication, learn new strengths and gain insights within the team.
- Achieve staff unification and feel valued and rewarded.
