Welcome to Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Waste Team's Blog!

The Waste Team at the Trust delivers the Recycle for Wiltshire Joint Venture which is funded by Wiltshire Council. We aim to get communities and schools engaged with and educated about recycling and the issues surrounding waste. We get up to all sorts of fun! Not only does our office look like Aladdin's Cave filled with 'junk' but we also deliver a wide range of workshops including upcycling, reuse crafts and pop-up events.

What have we been up to?

Last year was a busy one for us, moving focus from Westbury to Tidworth and Ludgershall. So far, Tidworth and Ludgershall have been a real success, having worked with almost every school, preschool and youth group in the area as well as engaging with families through a number of pop-up events. We've turned our hands to everything from furniture upcycling (with the help of the Repair Academy), making natural toiletries, to recycled Christmas crafts and even community scrap sculptures! We're always trying to come up with new and exciting events or ideas to make talking rubbish more interesting!

Whats Next?

Our next wild idea is to go waste-free for February and document our challenges! The 'Waste Free February' challenge will see the Waste Team (Gemma, Jess and Chelsie) aiming to produce little or no waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. In other words, we want to make sure that every piece of waste we do produce is either recyclable, reusable or compostable- yes it's going to be difficult but it wouldn't be call a challenge if it weren't challenging!
