Technical Officer

Reports to:     WSBRC Manager       

Salary:            £12,000 (£24,000 pro rata)   

Based:             Elm Tree Court, Devizes, Wiltshire

Contract:        Part time (0.5 FTE) Permanent – 18.75 hours          

Do you share a passion for science and evidence informing decisions affecting the natural environment?  We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated IT expert, to provide technical support to the WSBRC to ensure its systems and processes are fit for purpose. The Technical Officer role is a new position within WSBRC, created to ensure the ongoing functionality and efficiency of WSBRC ICT systems and support development of WSBRC data management solutions.  The Technical Officer will provide support in all aspects relating to data input, data management and output.

Candidates will have a systematic and methodical approach and have the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively. Adaptability and flexibility of approach is essential in this role as is excellent attention to detail. The post holder must be comfortable working closely with colleagues as part of a small team.

WSBRC promotes and supports high quality biological recording and monitoring and is part of a national network of local environmental records centres.  It gathers, manages, interprets and disseminates a wide range of biological and geological information for use by key decision makers and land managers.
