Katharine's Race to the Stones

Katharine from Devizes took part in Race to the Stones in July 2019, subsequently raising an amazing £750 for our charity! Here's what she had to say about it:

I raised £750 plus Gift Aid by completing the Race to the Stones in July 2019. I would thoroughly recommend the Race to the Stones for both walkers and runners, and I am glad that the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust provided me with the challenge to do it. I had considered it annually for several years, but chickened out in the belief that I would not be able to do it. The multiplicity of options make it a viable challenge for almost any half competent walker or runner.

The race is offered as a 100k ultramarathon, or a 50k walk, which takes you across stunning countryside and passes fascinating historical monuments on the way.

On the day we were blessed with good weather, generally not too hot, and nicely overcast on day two. The support was the best of any event I have done (and I have done a LOT of runs and a few walking challenges), catering for all tastes, great atmosphere and medical support at each pitstop. The campsite was great fun and had superb views as the sun went down. However, I was not the only one to struggle with sleeping on a slope, but at least that meant that getting up a 05.00 to start before 06:00 was not much of an effort. I would do it again.

We are pleased Katharine enjoyed the experience and would like to thank her once again for her efforts in fundraising for our charity.
