Learn how to weave a beautiful POTATO MOLLY BASKET with experienced willow weaver and teacher Geoff Travers.

"I first ventured into basket making in 1985 by making rough hedgerow baskets as a hobby then I obtained a placement with a Basket Maker in Somerset through the Rural Enterprise Scheme. My goal was, and remains, to keep the traditional basket making techniques alive and enable rural crafts to continue to provide an active place in the modern plastic age." This one day course will show you how to weave a traditional round potato molly basket (as pictured) used for gathering potatoes/apples.  Made from Somerset Willow (different colours and types of willow will be available) and using traditional methods. For those not able or willing to complete the molly then a smaller fruit basket can be made.

Some tools will be provided, however it would be great if people could bring their own secateurs and rulers/ tape measures or we can share what we have!

The day will run 10am - 4pm

Light lunch and tea/coffee included.

Please wrap up warm.
