This is a great course for beginners to learn how our ancestors worked with wood to create elegant and functional utensils. Take home your handmade wooden spoon.

During the day, you will learn basic knife techniques, use of different traditional hand-tools such as an axe, billhook and saw, straight knives, and hook knives and create your own design of wooden spoon, all whilst in the the idyllic setting of our nature reserve.

The course will be hosted by Tamsin Quin Whinton who has been carving wooden spoons and other items for five years and now sells her crafts around the world via her online shop. You can see some of Tamsin's work here.

Tea and coffee provided. Please bring a packed lunch with you.

This reserve can be hard to find, so please look at directions before travelling and leave with plenty of time. More information on the reserve and directions can be found here.
