This is a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust members only event.

Where: The walk will be at Caen Hill Locks, Devizes but we will meet at our head office (Elm Tree Court, Long Street, Devizes, SN10 1NJ) to catch the minibus down to the locks

Time: 4.45pm to 7.00pm

Join Gareth Harris and Lisa Wade from the Wiltshire Bat Group for a members guided bat walk at Caen Hill Locks. As part of Wild About Gardens Week, you will learn all about the bat of Devizes and the surrounding area, including some very rare woodland bats discovered in recent years. You’ll learn about your local bats, their life cycle, food and echolocation. At dusk we’ll take bat detectors and explore the ponds along the canal, listening for bats flying and feeding over the water and surrounding areas.

Please bring a torch. This is an evening event so please dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.

We will meet at Trust headquarters at 4.45pm before being driven down to the locks for a quick introductory chat before walking down the canal to look for bats.

Once we have finished the walk, we will bring you back to headquarters and serve a light supper.

Children over 7 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Cost:  £5.00 for adults and £2.50 for children. Booking essential as spaces are limited. This is a members only event.
