Nature Recovery Fund

£8,750 of £50,000 goal

From our iconic chalk streams to precious grasslands, from urban ponds to ancient woodlands, we are delivering ambitious collaborative projects that restore habitats at landscape scale. We are working across our 40+ reserves and beyond to provide refuges for wildlife.

Across Wiltshire and Swindon, targeted conservation, careful habitat management, and dedicated monitoring are producing results. New and returning species, including white-tailed eagle, beaver, crane, and goshawk have been sighted on our reserves, indicating the success in creating healthy, connected landscapes at scale. However, to halt nature’s decline, we need to do more on our land and influence our networks of farmers and landowners.

Increasing the amount of land actively managed for nature is fundamental to our work, and restoring nature at scale is a challenge no one can tackle alone. That’s why partnership is at the heart of everything we do.

Across Wiltshire, we’re working closely with farmers, landowners, and partner organisations to deliver nature's recovery. Wildlife and nature need space and they don’t see borders. This is why we will continue to work towards the goal of a ‘bigger, better, buffered and connected landscape’ through both enhancing habitats within our own nature reserves and forging partnerships.

Supporting our Nature Recovery fund will help us to:

  • Scale-up our effective habitat management practices and monitoring that supports the 135 listed critical species for Wiltshire and Swindon.
  • Expand our network of landowners and farmers and dedicate more resources, time, and focus to this area, developing more projects, partnerships, and agreements to secure nature’s recovery.
  • Identify and deliver nature-based solutions to tackle the impacts of climate change, including flooding, increasing river and land temperatures, and impacting soils across our own nature reserves and landholdings.
  • Work with our partners to share learnings and support others in their journeys to adapt to the changing climate and adopt more nature friendly, climate resilient land management practices.
  • Champion nature and biodiversity at a local, national and international level. Influence at all levels to create a more sustainable future for people and nature.
