Nature will be in recovery — but only if we act now

Across Wiltshire and Swindon, precious chalk streams flow, ancient woodlands hold centuries of life, and wildflower meadows hum with insects. But wildlife continues to struggle. Habitats are fragmented, species numbers are fragile, and the impacts of climate change make nature’s recovery increasingly urgent.

At Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, we have a bold vision: by 2030, nature will be in recovery in Wiltshire and Swindon, with habitats restored at scale, species flourishing once more, and natural processes working in harmony across the landscape.

This isn’t just a dream — it’s happening already on our 40+ nature reserves, thanks to conservation action on the ground and the support of people like you.

Across Wiltshire and Swindon, targeted conservation, careful habitat management, and dedicated monitoring are producing results. New and returning species, including white-tailed eagle, beaver, crane, and goshawk have been sighted on our reserves, indicating the success in creating healthy, connected landscapes at scale. However, to halt nature’s decline, we need to do more on our land and influence our networks of farmers and landowners.

What your donation does — right now

Your gift to the Nature Recovery Fund supports urgent, practical conservation action:

  • Restoring and reconnecting habitats such as chalk grassland, wetlands and ancient woodland — places where wildlife is hanging on by a thread.
  • Protecting vulnerable species by improving breeding sites, food sources and safe movement across the landscape.
  • Working with farmers and landowners to embed nature-friendly practices across whole catchments — because isolated reserves are not enough.
  • Using nature-based solutions to tackle flooding, drought and soil loss — helping wildlife and communities adapt to a changing climate.

Why we must act now

Each season that passes without action is another season nature falls further behind. Habitats become fragmented, species lose ground, and the balance of life that sustains healthy ecosystems weakens.

Supporting the Nature Recovery Fund is a decisive act of hope. It says that Wiltshire’s wildlife matters, that recovery is possible, and that we will not stand by while nature declines.

Nature cannot wait — and with your help, it doesn’t have to.
