Biological Records Data Officer Wiltshire and Swindon Biological Record Centre (WSBRC) Biological Records Data Officer Reports to: WSBRC Manager Salary: £24,000 Based: Elm Tree Court, Devizes, Wiltshire Contract: Full time Permanent - 37.5 hours/week Do you share a passion for science and evidence informing decisions affecting the natural environment? WSBRC has an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly motivated individual to develop the work of the Records Centre. The post holder will have principle responsibility for securing biological and environmental data and information to develop and deliver WSBRC products and services. This post has line management responsibility for a Biological Records Assistant. Candidates will have strong computer skills, including demonstrable experience of both working with database management systems (such as Recorder 6) to manage and process data and of working with and producing outputs through use of Geographical Information Systems. Candidates should have knowledge of the work of a Local Records Centre and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the management of biodiversity and geographical data and its use within local government, statutory agencies and the voluntary sector. Candidates must have a systematic and methodical approach to working with complex datasets and possess the ability to understand, assimilate, interpret and disseminate a wide range of biological information. Excellent organisational skills and flexibility of approach is required for this role and some experience in supporting and training volunteers is desirable. Wiltshire and Swindon Biological Records Centre (WSBRC) gathers, manages, interprets and disseminates a wide range of biological and geological information for use by key decision makers and land managers. It promotes and supports high quality biological recording and monitoring and is part of a national network of Local Records Centres.
