Many species of birds nest in buildings and are therefore more dependent than most species on humans for their survival.

Several of these species are now in decline, and have recently been added to the Red List in the Birds of Conservation Concern report.

Swifts and House Martins, for example, are now on the Red List for the first time.

Several birds of conservation concern we are interested in receiving sightings for are:

  • Swift (Red List)
  • House Martin (Red List)
  • House Sparrow (Red List)
  • Starling (Red List)
  • Spotted Flycatcher (Red List)
  • Barn Owl
  • Little Owl
  • Swallow

If you have seen any of these birds nesting in a building near you, please let us know by filling in our short form below.

Thank you!
