On Wednesday the 26th June, 40 staff and supporters of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust travelled to London to join the Mass Climate Lobby of Parliament called 'The Time Is Now'. This was organised by the Climate Coalition, in order to end the UK's contribution to climate change and restore our natural environment.

Armed with our Wildlife Trust t-shirts and creative placards (below), we took to Lambeth Bridge to join thousands of other environmental campaigners, church groups and members of the public, forming a lobby line which stretched from the Houses of Parliament all the way to the other side of the bridge.

Whilst on the bridge, thousands of us rang alarm clocks and made lots of noise at 2pm, to make ourselves heard and to signify 'The Time Is Now' for action.

We also arranged to meet some of Wiltshire's MPs, to talk with them about the need for urgent action in Wiltshire and across the UK such as creating a Nature Recovery Network, which will create a joined-up system of places that are important for the health of wild plants and animals. We also gave each of them a postcard from Wiltshire, outlining why we need a 'Wilder Future' and what can be done to help. These MPs included John Glen, MP for Salisbury, and Claire Perry MP's assistant Tim Allison, who both met their constituents on the bridge:

A group of us then moved on to Parliament Square, where we met with James Gray, MP for North Wiltshire:

The lobby was a success for us, as it gave us the opportunity to put our views forward to politicians who can make the changes we need to get Wiltshire's wildlife thriving again. We also have a few more meetings with the MPs who weren't able to attend on the day.

Thank you to all those who joined us, and to the MPs who agreed to meet with us.

We will be continuing to work with our members and supporters on our 'Wilder Future' campaign, which seeks to ensure a strong Environment Act including a Nature Recovery Network.
