Wild Connections is happy to announce the beginning of two new volunteer programmes, which will be available in the North and South of Wiltshire. These programmes are designed to help Duke of Edinburgh participants to complete their volunteering hours, for their Bronze award.

These two programmes allow students to complete their volunteer hours on a fortnightly basis at the weekend, over a series of eight sessions, on pre-planned dates to fit easily into your schedule. They will be completing practical tasks on our beautiful nature reserves with other D of E members, helping to make a difference to their local wildlife. The Southern Programme will be based on our reserve known as The Devenish, and our Northern programme will be split between Blakehill Nature Reserve and Lower Moor Farm.

The sessions will be run by our own staff and volunteers who are all DBS checked and first aid trained. Participants will be able to help out on a number of different tasks including gate installation, routing, installing noticeboards, step building and much more.

Wiltshire Wildlife is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP), and so is recognised by the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme to provide D of E students with excellent volunteer opportunities. We are also working with Wiltshire County D of E team to ensure all targets are met.

Wild Connections is a Heritage Lottery Funded Project whose aim is to encourage people out onto our Nature reserves, who may not have had the chance to do so before. We are excited to offer this opportunity to young people, and have worked hard to make sure that they get the most of out of the experience.

Please see the attached leaflets for more information on both programmes, for further details please contact Wild Connections, please be aware that spaces are limited and are assigned on a first come first served basis.
