Invertebrate surveying and overnight moth trapping The Devenish nature reserve offers a wonderful mix of young woodland, mature beech woodland, chalk downland and meadow. The walk to the top of the steep chalk downland slope is worth the effort for the spectacular views of the Woodford Valley below. The Devenish is within hiking distance from central Salisbury and is close to Old Sarum. The reserve has been intermittently trapped for moths over the past few years. The site has not benefited from having large numbers of traps, especially MV traps, being operated all night and thus the aim of this visit is to increase the number of species recorded on the site. This field visit forms part of a number of surveying sessions as part of the “Action for insects” project. To book, contact: Michael New [email protected] Meet at the entrance car park.
