Having recognised the serious loss of insect abundance and diversity over the past few decades, as part of the Lottery funded ‘Action for Insects Project’, we are looking for volunteers to help our team carry out vital conservation work at Morgan’s Hill.

What will I be doing?

A range of tasks will take place each month ranging from the following:

  • General reserve maintenance
  • Scrub management
  • Tackling invasive species
  • Path clearance
  • Fencing
  • Wildflower and insect monitoring

Why volunteer?

  • Help protect one of Wiltshire’s fantastic nature reserves
  • Pick up new skills
  • Meet new people
  • Work in a team
  • Keep fit!

Morgan’s Hill volunteer group meets on the second Sunday of each month. Most tasks will run from 10am to 3pm but you can come for all or part of the task as any help is gratefully received.

We meet at the Smallgrain picnic area SN11 8PZ just off the road from Devizes to Calne near North Wilts Golf Club. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Sturdy walking boots, work boots or wellingtons are a must, as is suitable clothes for the weather conditions. All tools and PPE will be provided but please make sure you register and let the task leader know you are coming in advance!
