It is a pivotal moment for the Trust. Our nation and county faces an ecological and climate emergency and an epidemic of mential ill-health. We want to see the abundance of nature restored across Wiltshire and Swindon and experienced by people in ways that enhance their lives and wellbeing.
Earlier this year, we revised out Strategy to 2030, in which we set out our ambitions to turn the corner on nature's decline and lay foundations for our vision to 2050: in which nature has been restored at scale to enrich everyone's daily lives.
Our Council play a vital role in shaping our strategy, ensuring strong governance, and championing our mission. They help ensure the Trust pursues its charitable objective, contribute to strategic planning and decision making, support and challenge our Chief Executive and Executive Team, and promote the Trust.
We are seeking to appoint new Trustees who will bring a range of experience and perspectives to our Council. We don't require applicants to have previous experience of sitting on a Board, have a degree, or have reached a particular stage of their career. Of greater importance is a keen interest in the work of the Wildlife Trusts, and an understanding of the communities of Wiltshire and Swindon.
This is a voluntary position with expenses reimbursed. We require Trustees to commit to 4 Council meetings and 4 Committee meetings per year, both at our office in central Devizes and online. Trustees are also encouraged to represent the Trust at events and visit our reserves.
