Wild Roots to Recovery
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and the Defence Gardens Scheme are launching Wild Roots to Recovery - a new 10-week nature-based wellbeing programme for veterans and the armed forces community, based at the Harbour Garden in Trowbridge.
This supportive programme offers the opportunity to spend regular time outdoors, connect with others, and take part in horticulture, practical conservation and nature-based activities designed to support wellbeing, confidence, and recovery.
Sessions will include a mixture of:
- Seasonal tasks within the forest garden with a focus on wildlife friendly gardening and habitat creation
- Practical outdoor skills
- Green woodworking
- Nature connection and mindful activities
- Opportunities for shared learning
Participants will also be invited to a Family Day, where they can bring friends and family to experience to programme.
The programme is open to armed forces veterans who may benefit from spending time in nature, building routine, and connecting with others through shared activity.
Dates and Times
Programme starts Monday 7th September at 11am - 2pm.
Sessions will then be Monday each week, 11am - 2pm.
Location
Harbour Garden, Ashton Rd, Hilperton, Trowbridge - part of our Green Lane Wood Nature Reserve
Referrals and Registration
Referrals are welcome from support organisations, health professionals, and self-referrals from veterans and armed forces community members interested in taking part. The referral form is available to download below.
