Penn Wood volunteering group Third Saturday of each month 10am-3pm starting 17th July 2021. Volunteer leader is Ray Trebble. Tasks will involve general reserve maintenance and habitat management which is likely to include tree planting and aftercare, path and site maintenance, pond management, scrub clearance, and survey and monitoring. All tools and PPE provided. Bring a packed lunch and refreshments as required, especially water in summer. Sturdy walking boots, work boots or wellingtons. Suitable attire for weather conditions. Insect repellant in summer. No previous qualifications required, all volunteers are welcome regardless of experience. All participants must have registered as volunteers with the Trust and must be over 18. Where we meet: There is a small car park at the entrance which is located just past SN11 8RU. Continue to the end of the track for reserve entrance. From Calne town centre take Oxford Road towards Swindon. On A3102 from Swindon, take ‘Town Centre Only’ into Calne. Turn into High Penn - a track leading uphill. Follow the track uphill to the car park. Track is quite rough and has 10mph speed limit. Please note there are no toilets or hand washing facilities at this reserve.
