Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has secured funding from the National Lottery: Heritage Lottery Fund, to purchase land adjacent to the Trust’s Coombe Bissett Down nature reserve, and restore the land to chalk grassland, creating a strategically important block of chalk downland. The project creates the opportunity to inform and engage a wider range of people with the UK’s globally important chalk downlands through an inclusive programme of community engagement, volunteering, training and learning activities.

The Project Officer (Community Engagement) will be responsible for delivery of the project’s Activity Plan. As the public face of the Coombe Bissett Down Land Purchase and Restoration project, you will ensure the smooth day to day delivery of the project’s activity programme, predominately delivered on the enlarged Coombe Bissett Down nature reserve. You will inspire actual and virtual visitors to engage with the natural heritage of chalk grassland; better understand the value and impact of the reversion process; learn to value this special environment and to be active in its care.

Your role will be wide and diverse but focussed on developing and delivering education programmes, training and practical conservation tasks, networking with target audiences, supervising volunteers, monitoring progress, compiling and submitting reports and managing budgets.

You will work closely with the Reserves Field Officer (South) who will oversee the reversion process and capital works elements of the project. You will also liaise closely with the evaluation consultant working on the project.
