Wildlife Information Volunteer (WIV) position: 4 hours a week

The volunteer for this Devizes based role will need a keen interest in Natural History and a general awareness of conservation issues.

As part of this role, the public may contact you to report sightings or incidents of interest, to ask for advice, or they may be seeking to identify something they've seen. Good communications skills are key to this role.

Identification is a significant part of this role, so an awareness of the great diversity of nature and a broad working knowledge of classification will be helpful in narrowing down possibilities. Expert input is available to help with rare or obscure subjects.

Enquires will mostly be by email, but occasionally by phone or letter. Reasonable computer literacy will be required, along with accurate record keeping.

Some training will be provided.
