Every Donation Makes a Difference

The Wildlife Trusts

Today marks the end of week 1 of 30 Days Wild, 7 days since you committed to bringing a little wildness into each day of June. Today, we’re focusing on how you can make a difference to Wiltshire’s wild spaces through supporting our work.

We are the leading charity in Wiltshire and Swindon working towards recovering our wild spaces and getting more people out into nature. You can read more about the Trust and its history here to get an idea of our impact and recent wild wins.

We can’t think of a more fitting end to week one of 30 Days Wild than donating to one of our projects. Remember - when we all work together, big things happen. That’s why we’d love your support in any form, be that a single donation, becoming a member and making a regular donation, or simply sharing your #30DaysWild progress on social media.

The Projects

Our Teams are always hard at work on a range of projects that aim to preserve and recover Wiltshire’s wild spaces. When you donate to one of these projects, you know exactly where your money is going. This means you can pick and choose what is most important to you and donate accordingly. And, with our handy donation counters, you can see how your donation is helping us get ever closer to our goals.

Here are our current projects that you can support:

Nature Recovery Fund

By 2030, we want nature to be in recovery across Wiltshire and Swindon. This means habitats restored to their former glory, species flourishing, and people working in harmony with nature. This vision is in full swing in our 40+ nature reserves, but nature at large is still in decline. That is why we need your support to ensure we can expand our work and reach.

Your donation to this project contributes to helping wildlife adapt to climate change, protecting vulnerable species, restoring habitats, and so much more.

Connecting People with Nature

As the pressures of modern life pull people further away from nature, through our Education and Wellbeing programmes we are nurturing our communities’ connection to wildlife and creating a network of people committed to protecting wild spaces.

Your donation to this project contributes to making sure wildlife remains accessible to everyone, preserving our connection to nature, and prioritising wildlife education. You’ll be supporting us in our goal to ensure the next generation fosters a love for all things nature.

Project Peewit

‘Peewit’ is the traditional name for the Northern Lapwing, the endangered bird depicted on our logo. These striking birds are on the UK Red List as a result of their numbers being slashed by approximately 60% across the UK since 1967.

The Trust is aiming to conserve these birds by identifying the threats they face in each site, and mitigating them accordingly. With your donation, the beloved Northern Lapwing comes a step closer to revival.

Boardwalk Appeal

Every winter, bad weather causes muddy paths that damage and erode Wiltshire’s wildlife reserves. Not only is it easy to get stuck in the mud at these times of year, but these conditions mean that we can’t carry out important conservation work as effectively. Boardwalks are an excellent solution, meaning that our reserves remain accessible to the public and our teams year-round.

Your donation to the Boardwalk Appeal will contribute to building environmentally friendly paths that allow everyone to navigate our amazing reserves safely.

So, which project will you choose?

Are you helping nature on the road to recovery, or supporting the lapwing breeding programme? Are you an advocate for getting people back to nature, or building boardwalks to make it possible? Whichever you decide, your donation will go a long way to supporting our projects and keeping nature at the forefront of Wiltshire’s landscape. However big or small your contribution, thank you for your support!
