Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is governed by a Council of Trustees.  The Council is supported by a small number of committees and working groups each of which focuses on a key area of the Trust’s work.

During 2016 the Trust has carried out work to establish Lakeside Care Farm on its reserve at Lower Moor Farm near Oaksey.  The term ‘Care Farm’ is used to describe the therapeutic use of farming practices to provide health, social or educational care services for individuals from one or a range of vulnerable groups.  Care farming fits very well with the Trust’s aim of reconnecting all of us with nature.

The development of Lakeside Care Farm has been overseen by a small committee of trustees and staff with some input provided by people with experience of care farming.  The project has reached the point where we are now selecting the first clients for 2017.  These are likely to be young people (19 – 25 years old) with learning needs, but we are also discussing other potential groups, e.g. with behavioural needs.

As Lakeside Care Farm moves out of development to become operational its management committee needs a broader set of skills.  Lakeside is a terrific opportunity for the Trust and we are looking for volunteers who are interested in joining the new management committee.  If you would like to contribute and have some of the skills outlined below then the Trust would very much like to hear from.
